Description
Light gray and white striped canvas - among the half-dozen completed during the opening night - whose colored stripes at each end were covered over with white paint, on the front side, by Daniel Buren or, in the case of a small number of them, by Michel Parmentier.
As these canvases were completed, they were hung beside those, also painted before the public, of Olivier Mosset, Michel Parmentier and Niele Toroni, on the mouldlings in the gallery which had been put at their disposal.
At 8:15 p.m., the four artists themselves took down their works and replaced them by a banner on which was written: "Buren, Mosset, Parmentier, Toroni, do not exhibit”.
